What is Pilates?
Pilates (pronounced “puh-lah-teez”, and not “pie lattes”, though we like those too!) was created in the 1920’s by Joseph Pilates. This method of fitness emphasizes proper alignment, core strength and balance along with mindfulness and control. It is low impact and restorative, reducing the likelihood of injury. In fact, Pilates is often used to rebuild strength and endurance as part of an physical therapy plan after illness or injury.
There are hundreds of exercises and each of those have variations and progressions, so you won’t get bored. As you develop a deeper understanding of the practice and improve your ability to perform each movement, the intensity of the exercise and the benefits they bring you grow.

Our approach
All of our Pilates classes are taught on a reformer, a machine that uses spring-based resistance and a moving carriage to sculpt a long, lean body that is strong and stable to the core.
Don’t let the reformer intimidate you. You’re going to love it! We promise to help you feel welcomed, comfortable and supported in our studio. We’ll coach you through every movement, offer modifications to meet your needs and build on your abilities as you get stronger, more balanced and more flexible.
We incorporate small props and equipment to challenge your body in unique ways, give you a little variety and keep classes fun while staying true to the fundamentals developed by Joseph Pilates: breathing, concentration, control, centering, flow, alignment, precision, relaxation and stamina.
